Estate

Since the acquisition of the Chateau de Montaigne in 1860, the Family Mahler-Besse, seventh generation owner, are really involved in producing wines that are a pure reflection of the terroir of their property.

Today, the owner of the Chateau of Montaigne are always share-holder of Chateau Palmer, and manage the wines of their Estate with the same level of quality and expression as they do in Margaux.

The vineyards are on the same soils of the hills of Saint-Emilion and its historical and exceptional terroir, that is enhanced by a vinification of quality with no compromises.

The Grand vin of Chateau Michel de Montaigne is a pure expression of the terroir and the grapes, with a delicate vinification, that bring silky tannins.

Harvest

From the 30th of September to the 9th of October.

Description

The Vintage 2020 is in line with great Vintages like 2018, 2015, 2010 and 2009, in term of quality

At Chateau Michel de Montaigne we manage to obtain a nice balance between the concentration of flavors, the structure (tannins and alcohol) and acidity, partly due to good weather conditions during most part of the year.

Tasting notes

The color is red ruby. The nose is very aromatic with harmonious notes of dark fruit like cherry and blackberry.

In the mouth the tannins are very sweet and silky, and brings a velvety structure.

There is a long finish on a basket of dark fruits and English candy.
